Does iPhone 12 Have Fingerprint Sensor?
If you were one of the many Apple fans who were expecting to see the iPhone 12 Pro fingerprint feature, you may feel somewhat sad or annoyed. In case you don't know, Apple decided to remove its classic home button with its built-in fingerprint scanner some generations ago. Notice that we're not counting on the iPhone SE. Ultimately, instead of the iPhone 12 fingerprint sensor, the iPhone 12, still, comes with Face ID. Simply put, Face ID uses facial recognition to secure your phone.
In case you closely follow Apple's announcements, you may have seen that when the company introduced the new iPad Air that it comes with touch ID built into the top button. So, you may have questioned yourself "will iPhone 12 have touch id?".
Unfortunately, for many iPhone fans, this wasn't the case with the iPhone 12. But there are both good and bad about cutting the iPhone 12 Pro fingerprint.
On the bad side, as we all know, wearing a mask all day long due to the COVID-19 pandemic makes the Face ID almost useless. You may not be able to unlock your iPhone immediately, and you must enter the passcode again and again.
On the good side, you don't want to return to the times when there is a big button on the front of the phone, squashing the screen in, which is greatly affects the beauty. Apple always want to make things work and beautiful at the same time.
The reality is that the iPhone 12 fingerprint sensor inclusion didn't need to look bad. In fact, some Android phones like the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra or even the affordable OnePlus Nord have built the fingerprint scanners under the display itself. They are invisible and don't take any additional space on the phone, so far making them an elegant solution to biometric security when face scanning is impossible.
Another good side of using Face ID instead of the iPhone 12 Pro fingerprint is that Apple's Face ID is regarded as significantly more secure than the 2D Face Unlock systems found in Android smartphones. Notice that they aren't as secure as most fingerprint sensors, but Face ID still has the edge in speed and convenience.
Just because Apple has chosen to let you unlock your phone using your face rather than your finger this time around doesn't mean Touch ID can't be brought back later down the line.
