As you may already have heard or read, the new iPhone will come without a charger and EarPods in the box. Yes, you read it right. The reasons invoked by the company to explain this situation are that "Customers already have over 700 million Lightning headphones, and many customers have moved to a wireless experience," according to Lisa Jackson, vice president of environment, policy, and social initiatives at Apple, during Tuesday's iPhone launch event. "There are also over 2 billion Apple power adapters out there in the world, and that's not counting the billions of third-party adapters. We're removing these items from the iPhone box, which reduces carbon emissions and avoids the mining and use of precious materials."

As you can easily understand, with fewer items included, the iPhone's packaging is naturally smaller. The reaction to iPhone 12 no charger was welcomed positively by accessory makers. After all, this is a great way to sell more chargers on their own.

However, the truth is that Apple's "no waste" policy only seems to see one side of the story. The reality is that previous iPhone owners can't use the same charger since it doesn't fit the new iPhone. So, if they want to use it, instead of one package, they will need to get two different packages - one with the iPhone and the other one with the charger. This will obviously be increasing environmental consequences. And in the case of the EarPods, the same occurs. 

While we understand Apple's iPhone 12 no charger and iPhone 12 no EarPods new policies, most consumers aren't happy at all. The truth is that the Internet was flooded with memes about it. Many Apple fans are even questioning if in the next year they will only get an image on the new package instead of an iPhone.
